Wine Picks: Santorini
Santorini wines are not just for summer sipping. With it’s volcanic soil and old vines, Santorini produces a wide range of wines to be enjoyed all year long.
Hatzidakis Winery has been making organic wine since 1996. They produce five different cuvees of Assyrtiko, the island’s most widely planted grape, and one red: Mavrotragano.
The Hatzidakis Santorini Assyrtiko is full and aromatic on the palate, but with tons of fresh acidity, a distinct minerality and a finish that lasts for days. Pair this with our Spanish octopus or Greek dips.
Hatzidakis also produces a Mavrotragano, Santorini’s indiginous red grape. A perfect winter red, the Mavrotragano is full bodied with notes of stewed fruit, leather and earth and pairs well with our lamb gnocchi or grass fed rib eye steak.
